There are several fiction projects I am working on, in various stages of completion. Amongst these are the fantasy novel, Shadewings; an as-yet untitled YA Novella; the political suspense/thriller, MMXX; and the final edits to a series of transpositions inspired by one of my favourite authors, Edgar Allan Poe.
MMXX is a political suspense/thriller, which I wrote the majority of the first draft as my NaNoWriMo 2015 entry. Considering its origins, it comes as no surprise that this book is in need of a drastic rewrite. The concept behind the book is a solid one, but for the sake of a greater link with reality, it will need a lot more research on my part. Finding reliable sources is not something which can be rushed, but I feel it will be well worth the time spent researching the finer scientific and political aspects. One of my main goals as an author is for my books to be believable, blurring the lines between reality and fiction.
The original idea behind this book has evolved considerably to become the creature it is today. Now in its third complete rewrite, Shadewings began its life as my NaNoWriMo 2013 project, and so far has gone through major plot and character changes, as well as a complete overhaul of the narrative. Although there is still a significant amount of work to be done, I am taking a step back from this for now, and hope to return to it with a clearer, more balanced view in the future.
The YA Novella:
Having stumbled upon an idea which would suit a slightly younger audience, I decided to dip my nib in the inkwell of YA fiction. I’m not at the point yet where I want to release any details, but I’ll be sure to post updates in due course.
I am also working on a series of transpositions based on works by one of my favourite authors. The first of these, Company of the Raven was released in September. Work continues on the remaining four books in the series, which I aim to release throughout 2017.
I have been told to expect the long-awaited arrival of Prompted Musings; Volume 3 as well as the Omnibus Edition in 2017. This series has been plagued with difficulties, so it is a relief to be so close to its completion. There are also a few non-fiction works in progress, which I plan to release at varying points throughout 2017.
